The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man who died due to a gunshot wound Friday morning in the city of Fertile.
According to the sheriff’s office, at approximately 7:54 a.m., deputies received a report that a male had suffered a gunshot wound. An investigation found that 65-year-old Gary Kiefert was deceased.
A firearm has been recovered from the scene. No foul play is suspected, and the public is not at risk, the sheriff’s office says. Results of an autopsy are pending.
The case is ongoing, according to authorities.
