Hoeven Announces More Than $1 Million To Support Education and Extension Work at ND Tribal Land- Grant Colleges

Senator John Hoeven, chairman of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee and the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, Friday announced that the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has provided more than $1 million in grant funding to support extension and education services at North Dakota tribal land-grant colleges. The funding is awarded through the Tribal College Extension Program (TCEP) and Tribal College Extension-Special Emphasis Program (TCEP-SE)

“These USDA grants provide tribal colleges with resources to provide education and outreach programs to meet needs in their communities. That includes initiatives like community gardens and farmers markets as well as extension programs that teach nutrition, food safety and life skills,” said Hoeven.
