Ralph Engelstad Arena to Receive Upgrades

What’s been called the ‘Palace on the Prairie’ is getting an upgrade.

The Ralph Engelstad Arena announced Tuesday morning that a project, slated to take place this summer, will enhance the fan experience at the arena.

R-E-A General Manager Jody Hodgson tells WZFG News that the arena will install the largest center-hung video board in college hockey, measuring 15.5 feet high by 34 feet wide per side.

Hodgson says the current fascia ribbon will be replaced by a new LED ribbon as well, in addition to upgrading the arena’s cameras and LED video displays.

A new LED lighting system will also be installed as a part of the project.

The total cost of the project is estimated at $6 million, with the Engelstad Foundation committing $4 million to the project.
