Senator Kevin Cramer Delivers Remarks on the Green New Deal

 U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer

U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.) joined his colleagues on the Senate floor today to deliver remarks about the Democrats’ proposed Green New Deal and their inconsistent attacks against Republicans.

“You can imagine my disappointment, Mr. President, when I first read the contents of this joint resolution. The Green New Deal is not serious policy; it’s a fantasy. I’m personally so disappointed to see so many of my colleagues on the other side of the aisle cosponsor this- especially those seeking higher office- and ignore these realities.

“A tax-and-spend agenda- to pay for an energy plan that wouldn’t even work- flies in the face of one of our nation’s greatest success stories: our domestic energy production. The U.S. rocket-ship economy is being driven to a large degree by the energy renaissance happening all across the country. Our strategy of energy dominance encompasses an all-of-the-above approach by harnessing wind, and oil, and natural gas, and solar, and nuclear, and yes: our coal potential.

“We need to be pragmatic and collaborative in finding solutions. That is not what defines this Green New Deal. It’s unrealistic, unworkable, and unaffordable. I hope we never become so lopsided in our energy ambitions that my friends, neighbors, and family back home are unable to heat their homes when they need it most.”
