One Injured in Grand Forks Crash

 

On March 29, 2019, at approximately 6:37 a.m., officers of the Grand Forks Police Department were dispatched to 2100 Gateway Drive for a report of a traffic crash with injury and airbag deployment.  There were two vehicles involved in the crash and one person was transported for an apparent neck injury.

The striking vehicle was driving east bound in the westbound lane going toward oncoming traffic.  The second vehicle was driving westbound in its proper lane of travel when the two vehicles collided in the roadway.

The operator of the striking vehicle was transported to Altru by paramedics.  The operator was identified as being 57-year-old Gary Andrew Burden.  Gary admitted to alcohol consumption and there was an open container of an alcoholic beverage found inside of the vehicle.  Gary was placed under arrest for driving under the influence and a blood draw was completed.  The results are pending at this time.  Citations were issued for Careless Driving and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle.

The driver of the second vehicle was not injured.
