West Fargo High School Counselor Named Distinguished Education Professional by NDSU

Mrs. Julie Hersch

Mrs. Julie Hersch, a career counselor at West Fargo High School, is one of six regional high school educators selected to receive the Distinguished Education Professional Award from North Dakota State University.

The award honors regional educators who advocate for access to higher education. The recipients of this award were nominated by the NDSU Office of Admission based on their commitment, leadership, and excellence in supporting access to higher education and support of NDSU’s recruiting efforts.

“I love building relationships with students and hearing their stories. I believe that if you have a positive relationship with a student, it is so much easier to help them unleash their untapped potential,” Mrs. Hersch said. “College doesn’t just prepare you for a career; it prepares you for life and opens doors of opportunity.”

Mrs. Hersch has been a counselor for 11 years and is in her first year as a career counselor at West Fargo High School. She started her career with West Fargo Public Schools in 2007, but has been in education for a total of 27 years.
