American Red Cross Supporting Shelter After Tornado Hits Watford City

The American Red Cross is responding to help people affected by a tornado that hit Watford City, ND.

Red Cross disaster relief workers are on scene to support a shelter opened by McKenzie County Emergency Management. Anyone displaced by this storm can go to the Watford City Civic Center located at 2209 Wolves Den Parkway in Watford City.

“Many people have lost everything so there’s a big need for housing,” explains Red Cross Executive Director Rob Stotz. “We’re looking for partners in hotels or apartment complexes willing to open their doors to people who are displaced.”

The Red Cross is currently providing food, water and emergency shelter to more than 170 people, though that number is likely to fluctuate throughout the day. Our teams are working closely with emergency officials in McKenzie County to assess the needs of the community and will continue to provide support as needed.
