Former Fargo Parks executive director takes job in Bismarck

BISMARCK, N.D. – The former executive director of the Fargo Park District has a new job.

Dave Leker has been announced as the executive director of the Bismarck Parks and Recreation District. He’ll take over for Kevin Klipfel, who retires effective June 18.

“I am very excited about this new opportunity in such a great North Dakota city,” says Leker. “Bismarck Parks and Recreation District has long been recognized as a state and national leader in the field. Through my involvement with the North Dakota Recreation & Park Association, I have had the opportunity to get to know the last three executive directors as well as many of the dedicated staff members. With the strong leadership of the Board of Park Commissioners and the tremendous knowledge and experience of the staff, I am confident BPRD will continue the outstanding tradition it has built over the past 99 years serving the Bismarck community. I look forward to engaging with residents, partners, and stakeholders and working alongside so many great people in such a beautiful and thriving city.”

Leker has worked in parks and recreation for more than 30 years in North Dakota.
