More Details Released on Thursday Evening West Fargo House Fire

(West Fargo, ND) -- We're learning a bit more about a house fire that destroyed a home in West Fargo Thursday evening.

The West Fargo Fire Department says it was dispatched to the 5300 block of Eighth Street West at 8:01 p.m. Thursday and found a garage attached to a house was fully engulfed and flames were spreading to the home’s attic.

To combat the heavy fire conditions from the exterior, crews used a handline hose on the ground and an aerial stream from a raised ladder. Following the exterior defensive tactics the crews transitioned to the interior to extinguish the remaining hot spots. Crews were on scene for roughly two and a half hours.

The house and garage is a total loss. Five people and 1 pet were displaced by the fire. Twenty-six fire personnel from West Fargo Fire responded, as well as 5 from the Fargo Fire Department. F-M Ambulance, the Salvation Army and the West Fargo Police Department were also on scene.

The source of the fire is under investigation by the Fire Marshal.
