Plane Crashes Into Rural West Fargo Field

(West Fargo, ND) -- For the second time in one day, a plane has went down in North Dakota.

West Fargo Fire responded to the scene off 12th Avenue Northwest around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday afternoon on reports of smoke coming from a soybean field in rural West Fargo.

When crews arrived, they found a single engine plane had nosedived straight into the field, right next to West Fargo Municipal Airport.

Crews then worked to pull the pilot, who was the lone person inside, out. He was reportedly pinned by his legs to the inside of the aircraft, and it took around 40 minutes to extricate him.

The pilot is said to have severe lower body trauma, and his status is not yet known. He was transported via ambulance to Sanford Health for his injuries. Make sure to tune into our social media pages throughout the evening as more details become available.

The crash itself remains under investigation by the State Highway Patrol.
