D.C.-Based Rights Group Alleges Hate Crime In Last Week's Alleged Assault In Fargo

(Fargo, ND)  --  The nation's largest Muslim civil rights organization has North Dakota on its priority list.

Officials say Washington, D.C.-based Muslim Advocates is calling on state lawmakers to enact new hate-crime laws amid reports that an 11-year-old girl was assaulted this week in Fargo.  In its complaint, the group alleges that 73-year-old Fargo resident Larry Baldner used an expletive in reference to a group of children playing basketball and then physically assaulted one of them.

He reportedly was charged with assault in the incident, which remains under investigation.
