City of Moorhead Transit Manager celebrates 40 years of employment

(Fargo, ND) -- A department head for the City of Moorhead is celebrating her 40 year employment anniversary.

"It just sounded like a fun place to work and an interesting job, and you got to know a lot about the community working with so many different departments," said Lori Van Beek.

Lori Van Beek first joined the City of Moorhead in September, 1982. She originally worked as an office specialist for the Planning, Community Development, and Mass Transit departments. In 1990, she took on the role of Transit Manager. Van Beek says she plans to work for roughly another year-and-a-half before retiring.

"I think it's just a service to the community that's really needed and it's an honor to be in that type of service. I enjoy the people that I work with and I think it's really important," said Van Beek.
