(Fargo, ND) -- Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney was among more than 300 mayors from around the country gathering at the White House Friday as part of the annual bipartisan U.S. Conference of Mayors.

They were greeted by President Joe Biden.

"As many of you know, I started my career as a local official back in Delaware and I only ran for the Senate because serving locally was too hard. They know where you live, they think you can solve problems that are beyond your authority," said Biden, drawing chuckles from the mayors.

The three day event included speeches by Vice President Kamala Harris and House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
