(Fargo, ND) -- Fargo Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Rupak Gandhi is sharing more details about the new Self-Directed Learning Academy opening in the district this fall.
"We are looking to provide a flexible learning environment that promotes educational justice and ensures every student has the opportunity to succeed regardless of their zip code," said Gandhi.
Gahndi says the Academy will eventually be a K through 12 school, but at first will only be offered to any middle school child who wants to enroll.
The approach allows students to learn at their own pace, with "time not being a barrier".
"Flexible learning apps" and technology will be used.
Gahndi says the district will provided transportation from middle school campuses to a central location where the Academy will operate.
Initially, classes will take place at Agassiz.
A permanent site will be determined in the future.
The superintendent says groups of teachers will be assigned to work with groups of students ranging in size from 100 to 120 for a two to three year period.
