(Fargo, ND) -- The Cities of Fargo and Moorhead are issuing a joint statement on Israel and Palestine, calling for peace in the region.

The joint proclamation states Mayors Tim Mahoney and Shelly Carlson mourn the loss of innocent lives due to the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, and are sending a message that Fargo and Moorhead stand for enduring peace.

CODEPINK, a national anti-war group, and several residents have been urging the cities to pass a ceasefire resolution condemning what they call genocidal acts against Palestinians.

Mayor Mahoney is expected to speak about the joint statement to ceasefire supporters at the next city commission meeting on March 4th. WDAY Radio has reached out to the FM CODEPINK Chapter for a response.
