Hazmat response to temporarily close portions of 7th Avenue North East in West Fargo today

(West Fargo, ND) -- Hazmat officials say a leaky truck is to blame for a response early this morning.

The West Fargo Fire Department responded to the intersection of 13th avenue south and 7th ave northeast just before 12:10 a.m. Thursday, finding a fuel truck had sprung a leak along 7th. Crews blocked water drainage systems and temporarily blocked the roadway. The truck was located and had its fuel transferred to a second vehicle.

Crews say there will be temporary street closures throughout today along 7th avenue northeast to complete cleaning efforts. The section will include portions just west of 10th street north east to 13th Street north east. Traffic will be detoured to 5th Avenue north east and 16th street north east. 

The Fire Department says no fuel has been found in water or drainage systems so far.
