(Minneapolis, MN) -- Voters in Minneapolis have a key decision to make and it's being closely watched around the nation Tuesday.

Voters are choosing whether to dismantle the police department with a new Department of Public Safety, which would be overseen by the mayor and city council. Calls to defund the police began in the city last year after George Floyd was killed by a former cop.

If passed, some officers would be replaced with social workers and mental health experts.
