School staffer dies from COVID-19, Eight this year in Minnesota

(Golden Valley, MN) -- The Minnesota Department of Health says another school staff member is dead due to COVID-19.  

On Thursday, MDH announced that eight staffers and one student have died since the term began in September. In total, 16 staff members and two students have succumbed to the coronavirus since the pandemic began last year.  

In a statement, President of Education Minnesota Denise Specht called the deaths "tragic," adding that Minnesotans need to work together to slow the spread of COVID-19.
