(St Paul, MN) -- A new law will extend the presumption that health care and public safety workers contracted COVID-19 on the job, making workers' compensation benefits easier to access.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz signed the measure Friday and it took effect Saturday. It will impact police officers, firefighters, first responders, and nurses who test positive for the virus.
The original change was made in 2020, but expired on December 21st, 2021. It was the first bill to pass through the Capitol during the 2022 legislative session.
