(Jamestown, ND) -- A former Jamestown pastor is facing charges following his removal from the diocese in January.

In a statement to WDAY Radio, The Diocese of Fargo says Father Neil Pfeifer has been charged with sexual exploitation by a therapist. This is following his arrest last week, and his removal from the Diocese of Fargo based on accusations of inappropriate conduct with adults.

“I have received word that Logan County has charged Fr. Neil Pfeifer with the crime of sexual exploitation by a therapist, "said Bishop John Folda from the Diocese of Fargo. "The Diocese learned of this allegation after receiving the prior allegation of misconduct from Jamestown. We will continue to cooperate with law enforcement, and I encourage anyone with additional information to contact law enforcement officials."

Pfeifer previously worked as a pastor of the Basilica of St. James in Jamestown, St. Margaret Mary in Buchanan, and St. Matthias in Windsor.
