Thousands remain without power as ice storm continues

(Region) — Thousands across the region remain without power tonight as the region’s ice storm warning continues.

According to Cass County Electric, 3,144 customers are without power as of 6:50 p.m. this evening. At Otter Tail Power Company, more than 13,000 customers are reportedly without power.

“We're working as safely and quickly as we can in icy and wet conditions to restore power to all customers,” Otter Tail Power Company said in a statement. The company says additional crews from across the service area have safely arrived to help with restoration efforts.

Otter Tail says they anticipate restoring power this evening in multiple areas, with those living in the Fingal, Hastings, Litchville, Kathryn, and Nome areas not expected to be back online tonight.

Crews are reporting one inch of ice on lines and equipment, making restoration challenging in some areas.

Those in rural Page, Jud and Oriska will not have power restored tonight.
