(Bismarck, ND) -- The federal government is stepping in to help coal communities in North Dakota.

The U.S. Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement is planning to invest more than three-million dollars to improve the quality of life for residents living and working around mines.

The money will go toward revitalization efforts, including eliminating pollution and poor environmental conditions.
