(Mille Lacs County, MN) -- A man under investigation for a hit-and-run in Mille Lacs County says a feature on his car may be responsible for a woman's death.

Investigators have been searching for the suspect in the death of Dr. Cathy Donovan since she was hit as she walked her dog near Mille Lacs Lake in November. Evidence led investigators to a Twin Cities man who initially denied any knowledge of the crash. But a second interview led the suspect to say that he may not have been aware of the crash because his Tesla was probably on autopilot at the time.

No charges have been placed, and the man's lawyer says his client plans to continue cooperating in the investigation.
