(Bismarck, ND) -- A former Miss North Dakota hopes to become a state lawmaker.

Macy Bolinske is running for the open Republican House seat in District 40. She grew up in Minot, graduated from Bishop Ryan Catholic School, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of North Dakota, graduating Summa Cumma Laude.

Bolinske says she will focus her legislative efforts on substance abuse and other family issues such as economic development, taxation, and small government.
