North Dakota could qualify for more than $4.5 million in federal Telecommunications and Information Administration funding.
Commerce department officials made the announcement yesterday that funding for states would help cover the cost of "empowering individuals and communities with the tools, skills and opportunities they need to benefit" from high-speed Internet access. North Dakota's share of the funding reported could total as much at $4,549,722.
Officials say the funding is being made available to help states adopt a high-speed Internet connection and develop essential digital skills enabling residents to fully participate both in society and the digital economy.
