Minnesota house minority leader wants stronger penalties for swatting

(St. Paul, MN) -- Minnesota House Minority Leader Lisa Demuth is calling for tougher penalties for fake emergency calls known as swatting.

She has now sponsored a bill that makes the crime a felony.

Demuth says the legislation has bipartisan support and she expects it to pass this legislative session.

Last December, Wright County authorities say there were 15 emails sent to county and Delano city officials falsely telling them murder or hostage situations were happening at their home.
