GRAND FORKS, N.D. (Valley News Live) – Firefighters rescued a woman and several pets from a burning home early Saturday morning.
The Grand Forks Fire Department was dispatched to 1460 49th Ave. S. at approximately 3:43 a.m. May 9 for a residential structure fire with entrapment.
Fire crews arrived and encountered smoke showing throughout the home. The first arriving engine initiated a search of the home and located the trapped occupant in her bedroom. The occupant and several pets were removed from the home and transported to Altru. The condition of the occupant is unknown at this time.
The fire was extinguished. There was substantial fire and smoke damage throughout the home.
The Grand Forks Fire Department responded with five engines, one truck and a command vehicle with 17 personnel. No firefighters were injured during the incident. The fire department was assisted by Altru Ambulance and the Grand Forks Police Department.
The Grand Forks Fire Department reminded citizens to check their smoke detectors and have an escape plan.
