City of West Fargo to host COVID-19 informational session with Dr. Paul Carson

 

The City of West Fargo is hosting a virtual COVID-19 information session at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, 2020, with Dr. Paul Carson, an infectious disease specialist. The session will be available to view via Zoom and aired live on Facebook.

During the session, Dr. Carson will provide information on COVID-19 safety actions recommended by multiple public health organizations, including the North Dakota Department of Health and Fargo Cass Public Health. These actions include wearing a face mask, washing hands, avoiding large gatherings and social distancing.

The 30-minute session will include a brief presentation and then Dr. Carson will respond to questions submitted by West Fargo residents before the event. The City of West Fargo recommends all residents follow the public health recommendations for slowing the spread of COVID-19 and protecting themselves and others. Due to Cass County’s change to yellow (moderate) risk in Cass County, the City of West Fargo has implemented new safety protocols at public buildings to protect the public and staff. Dr. Paul Carson is an infectious disease specialist who worked at Sanford Health as a clinician and researcher for over 20 years. He joined North Dakota State University in 2013 as a professor in the department of public health, where he teaches and conducts research in the graduate Masters of Public Health program. He also serves as the Director of NDSU’s Center for Immunization Research and Education (CIRE), and serves as an infectious disease consultant to the North Dakota department of public health. Dr. Carson also serves on the Red River Valley COVID-19 Task Force who works to prevent and mitigate community spread of coronavirus in the metro community. Commission President Bernie Dardis also serves on this task force.
