UPDATE: Large Police Presence Confirmed in Walsh County Friday

3:45 P.M. UPDATE: We now know more about the large law enforcement presence in Adams on Friday night.

Walsh County Sheriff Ron Jurgens, in an interview with WZFG News, says, at around 8 p.m. Friday night, authorities received a call from a concerned motorist in regards to an intoxicated semi driver. Jurgens says that when the motorist went to investigate and find a plate number, the semi driver threw a couple of beer cans at the motorist. The motorist then said she saw a weapon come out of the driver's window, and then she heard a shot fired.

Deputies then arrived on scene and located the semi within the city limits of Adams, which is 32 miles west of Grafton. The deputy also located the driver, who then took off into his residence.

At that time, the Northeast Regional Special Response team was notified and activated. After 20 minutes of negotiation, the suspect came out peacefully, Jurgens says.

The suspect has been identified as Lynn Kouba, a 58-year-old Adams resident.

Kouba has been charged with terrorizing and reckless endangerment, both Class C Felonies; and firing a firearm within city limits, a misdemeanor.

Jurgens says no one was injured in the incident.
