Rural North Dakota superintendent announces student death

TOWNER, N.D. – The superintendent at Towner-Granville-Upham Public Schools in central North Dakota says a student has died.

Superintendent Erik Sveet, in a letter, said the student was a sixth grader at the school.

“During this incredibly painful time, our collective thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the student’s family and friends,” he said.

The district will have a team of school counselors and local clergy on site to support students and staff, Sveet said.
