Two jailed following vehicle pursuit through Moorhead

Two people are in custody, following a Thursday afternoon chase in Clay County, Minnesota.

According to Clay County Sheriff Mark Empting, at approximately 3:01 p.m., a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle with a fugitive inside it. The vehicle failed to stop for the deputy's emergency lights and siren, at which time a pursuit ensued.

The vehicle drove through south Moorhead, until going south on 8th Street. The driver went south on 8th Street to 50th Avenue and proceeded into the area of Bluestem. The driver then left the Bluestem area, where a Moorhead Police Department detective was able to deploy a tire deflation device. The device proved effective, puncturing one of the tires.

The speeds of the vehicle slowed, and a deputy conducted the PIT maneuver, bringing the vehicle to a stop in the area of 45th Street and 50th Avenue South. Three occupants in the vehicle were taken into custody on scene.

The driver, 26-year-old Star Racine, of New Town, N.D., was arrested for felony fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, gross misdemeanor false name and date of birth, and no Minnesota driver's license. Her passenger, 30-year-old Charlee Fox, of White Shield, N.D., was arrested for two outstanding warrants for her arrest. One was from Wisconsin, while the other was from Minnesota.

The third occupant was released and was not transported to the Correctional Center.
