Hoeven Announces More Than $2.8 Million USDA Grant for Fiber Optic Infrastructure in Morton County

Senator John Hoeven, chairman of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development has awarded a $2,828,547 grant to BEK Communications Cooperative (BEK). The funds, provided through USDA’s Community Connect Grants program, will be used to install new fiber optic infrastructure to provide businesses and residents with high quality broadband services. Earlier this year, the senator sent a letter to USDA in support of BEK’s application.

“BEK has already constructed over 250 miles of fiber optics in Morton County, and today’s investment will build on the cooperative’s efforts to provide high quality broadband services to residents and businesses in Morton County,” said Hoeven. “This fiber optic infrastructure can bring access to additional economic and educational opportunities, improved health care, public safety assistance and more.”
