U.S. Supreme Court Upholds Travel Ban

The United States Supreme Court ruled Monday in a 5-4 decision that President Trump’s travel ban against mostly Muslim country should be upheld.

The decision, which was a big victory for the Trump administration, means the ban, which has been fully in place since December, will continue. Chief Justice John Roberts said, in the majority opinion that he wrote, the travel ban was within Trump’s authority on immigration and responsibility for keeping the nation safe.

The policy affects travelers from five countries with mainly Muslim populations: Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria and Yemen.

Those who challenge the ban say that Trump’s statements crossed a constitutional line, according to media reports.
