On April 8, 2019 at approximately 10:11pm , officers of the Grand Forks Police Department were dispatched to the 4300 block of Gateway Dr. for a report of a male subject lying in the roadway with a head injury after being struck by a vehicle. Initial investigation determined the male subject was crossing the road walking south bound outside of the crosswalk when he was struck by a 1996 Honda Accord driven by 40 yo Tyson Sewell of Grand Forks traveling west bound. CPR was attempted on the male but he was pronounced deceased on scene.
The Grand Forks Police Department was assisted by Altru Ambulance Service, the Grand Forks Fire Department, the Grand Forks Sheriff Department and the ND Highway Patrol. The Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team and the Regional UAS team also assisted in the investigation.
