(Fargo, ND) -- Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney officially kicked off his re-election campaign Tuesday.  He spoke before supporters at the Dr. James Carlson Library.

"You know I have a lot of things I am not quite done with yet and that is what I'd like to finish.  So once you are in the thick of the elements, you know the parties involved, you know the people involved, how you can get this over the goal line basically is what I'd like to do," said Mahoney.

While speaking, Mahoney reviewed accomplishments from his time already in office.  He touted the local economy, which he described as strong relative to other Midwestern cities.  The race now includes a total of 5 candidates and Mahoney said he welcomes the competition.  If re-elected the mayor says one priority would be updating the Fargo Dome.   Mahoney also pledged that he would serve as a "full-time" mayor.  He also said he plans to retire from his surgery practice in June.
