(Fargo, ND) -- Fargo State Senator Merrill Piepkorn has filed paperwork with the Secretary of State's Office indicating that he is running for governor.
The democrat has represented the 44th District since 2016.
Piepkorn is the second democrat to enter the race, joining Travis Hipsher.
Congressman Kelly Armstrong and Lieutenant Governor Tammy Miller are running for the republican nomination.
