(WDAY Radio) -- Several media outlets are calling the primary race in South Carolina for Donald Trump.

The predictions first came from the Associated Press after several pre-election polls and "other data" considered by the news organization. An early forecast conducted by the New York Times shows Trump leading contender Nikki Haley by an estimated 23 points. This number is not final, and can vary by multiple percentage points by the time final votes are tallied.

At the time of publication, less than 1% of the vote has been counted.
