(Fargo, ND) -- Minnesota State Senator Mark Johnson is comparing the Reproductive Freedom Defense Act passed by the house to other DFL-backed legislation he describes as "controversial".

"If you look at some of the legislation, the Paid Family Medical Leave Act, the 2nd Amendment bills, you know those real controversial bills that they know they're going to have a big fight on the floor, they haven't been moving lately and I think that's because they know our team is ready to go, go to the mat on any of these things that come up," said Johnson.

While appearing on "What's on Your Mind" on AM 1100 The Flag, Johnson was asked if republicans in the senate could block the passage of the Reproductive Freedom Defense Act, HF 366. Johnson said "there is some hope" they would stop it.

The bill, which passed the house by a vote of 68 to 62 would establish new provisions to legally protect women seeking abortions and service providers performing abortions in the state.
