ND DAPL trial hears from final witness in federal case

(Bismarck, ND) -- The final witnesses testified Thursday in the nearly month-long trial over who should pay the cost of the Dakota Access Pipeline protests. However, it may take as long as six months for federal and state attorneys to submit their closing statements.

One of the last witnesses was former Indian Affairs executive director Scott Davis. He said if the Army Corps of Engineers had enforced their jurisdiction on its land, the protests could have been stopped on day one.

Davis also said he believed many of the people at the camp were from out of state and were paid to come to North Dakota and cause problems.
