(Minneapolis, MN) -- The first trial in the Feeding Our Future federal case is set to start today in downtown Minneapolis.
Six defendants are charged with several offenses including wire fraud and money laundering.
They all had ties to Empire Cusine and Market in Shakopee, which enrolled in federal meal programs to feed needy children in April 2020.
The defendants received more than 40 million dollars in federal reimbursements for claiming to serve over 18 million meals to children across Minnesota.
The trial could last up to six weeks.
