We mentioned that memorial day weekend was looking to be another "wet" weekend when he held our LRC Seasonal Outlook. Sure enough, that is what we are looking at as a couple of storm systems track into our area. This will bring daily chances for scattered rain showers all weekend into the beginning of next. This isn't to say that the whole weekend is going to be a washout at this point, but rain is likely at least periodically most of the weekend.
The week ahead is drier than other weeks but still a couple of chances for some rain. Today, Tuesday, 5/24/2022, We are calling for partly cloudy skies with a 10% chance of an isolated shower this evening and a high in the upper 60s. Most of our area will be dry today with increasing clouds through the afternoon and a south breeze around 10-20 mph. Tonight, a slight chance for an isolated shower, otherwise mostly cloudy, lighter winds, lows near 50 in the upper 40s. A storm system will track just to our south on Wednesday. Bringing general rain over into Lakes country and southern Minnesota. There is just a slight chance for a couple of scattered showers here in the Red River Valley as we fall on the northwest edge of this system. More clouds and the rain will cool us down a bit closer to 60 with an east southeast wind of 5-15 gusting to 20 mph.
Sunshine returns on Thursday. Wind remains light as we warm back closer to 70. Much the same for Friday but with a little more cloud cover. Partly cloudy, light wind, and highs in the mid 70s. As we head into the weekend temps, remain in the 70s. So temperature-wise, it will be nice, but we will see a daily 30-50% chance for scattered rain and thundershowers each day into Tuesday. The way it appears to set up as of now, it mostly looks to arrive late in the day/overnight, with some scattered showers in the afternoon. Sunday looks to contain more rain than Saturday and Monday. Timing will likely change a little bit over the week, so we will continue to monitor the upcoming weekend and refine the forecast for more exact timing and coverage of the rain. A couple of storms could be strong to severe, on Saturday and Sunday, favoring Sunday.
