(St. Cloud, MN) -- A St. Cloud man is facing a dozen felony charges after an eight-hour standoff with police.

Shawn Jacobs is charged with nine counts of first-degree assault, use of deadly force against a police officer, two counts of felony possession of a firearm, and one felony charge of committing a crime while wearing a bullet-resistant vest.

Investigators with the Central Minnesota Violent Offender Task Force were executing a search warrant in the 27-hundred block of 16th Street South Tuesday when Jacobs said through the closed door that he had a firearm and intended to shoot them.

Jacobs also fired a round from within the apartment, leading to a standoff. Jacobs surrendered to authorities after almost five hours of negotiation and was taken into custody.
